Sr. Systems Analyst – Microsoft Power BI Specialist 

REMOTE, Working hours: 8am – 5pm Central Standard Time (USA)

Our Client Company Located in West-Suburban Chicago and in business for over 16 years with a 200+ vehicle fleet, the company is an asset-based truck and brokerage company providing freight management logistics services locally and across the United States. The company utilizes diverse modes of transportation including dry van, reefer, flatbed, expedite, as well as oversize load capabilities to service our diverse portfolio of clients.

Position 

This individual will design and develop best-in-class, interactive, reporting and dashboard solutions leveraging Power BI and the Microsoft BI stack. This is an advanced role that will be engaged in all phases of the reporting & analytics development lifecycle and will be focused on supporting business intelligence reporting infrastructure and application support needs.

You will be working remotely, full-time, adjusting your working schedule to the CST time zone. The working language is English, and we expect our candidate to possess a high level of written and oral proficiency.

Tasks and Responsibilities 

● Design, develop, enhance and support business intelligence systems primarily using Microsoft Power BI. 

● Collect, analyze and document user requirements, with strong attention to customer service 

● Reporting using parameters, Sub reports, Drill Down Reports, expressions and report development using Tabular; modeling Azure experience is an asset 

● Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets for projects and tasks 

● Troubleshoot and pinpoint root causes for discrepancies to work towards data accuracy and consistency Provide end-user support including setup, installation, configuration and maintenance for applications released 

● Participate as a team member while using the experience gained to support business processes 

● Serve as an advisor and partner with department heads to understand their needs and find situations where data and reports can be used to enhance their capabilities 

● Utilize technical capabilities to dig into data sources and/or produce visualizations per requirements across various departments 

● Complete ad hoc data requests while working to design self-service reports, creating efficiencies addressing the need for these "one-off" requests. 

● Improve existing build and release processes and procedures 

● Support Reporting servers and services by applying network configuration changes, security configurations, server patching, backup, and other resource customizations 

How does our ideal candidate look like? He/she possesses:

● Minimum Bachelor's Degree - preferably in math, economics, engineering, statistics, information technology or a similar technical field. 

● Minimum of two (2) years of experience building reporting solutions using Microsoft Power BI, Cognos, and Excel 

● Expert knowledge of Microsoft Power BI Desktop and Power BI Services. Expert knowledge of Microsoft Power BI Visuals, Data modeling, and transformation techniques. 

● Ability to present complicated information in understandable terms with a strong grasp of both technical and business perspectives. 

● Strong critical thinking, as well as organizational, multi-tasking, prioritization and interpersonal communication skills. 

● Ability to work independently and establishing ownership while driving resolutions to projects. 

● Must have worked with connectors to various data sources from Microsoft and other sources Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) 

● Knowledge of developing Business Intelligence initiatives using SQL Server stack (SSIS and Power BI), TFS/Azure DevOps; 

● Knowledge of developing dimensional data models and awareness of the advantages and limitations of Star Schema and Snowflake schema designs; 

● Solid ETL development, reporting knowledge based off an intricate understanding of business process and measures;
