IT Quality Assurance Team Lead

Overall Purpose of the Position

Responsible for driving and performing the IT Quality Assurance Unit’s activities in an effective and efficient manner such that the Unit’s objectives are achieved; ensuring that all IT Deliverables meet the high standard of quality expected by our customers through a variety of assurance processes and tasks.

Operational Responsibilities

  • To carry out all assigned tasks efficiently and effectively, in adherence with internal policies and procedures.
  • To participate in the design and implementation of process improvements for the team.
  • To identify and participate in periodic system reviews to identify possible gaps and process inconsistencies and propose re-alignment strategies including the necessary training programmes.

IT Quality Assurance Function

  • To perform the role of QA Team Lead on selected projects; plan, organise, monitor, supervise and control the delivery of the IT Quality Assurance Team assigned to the project.
  • To actively participate in the full range of tasks associated with the assurance of IT Project Deliverables;
  • Create end-to-end test plans; including estimates for test case creation and execution, executing the plan and managing all activities to ensure that all the objectives are met and that the solution gives the desired results within the agreed timeframes.
  • To perform a number of testing cycles to validate solutions in terms of functionality, performance, reliability, stability and compatibility with other legacy and / or external systems;
  • Conduct post-mortem reviews on projects; defining, documenting and identifying gaps and improvements and inconsistencies;
  • To document and implement the processes related to performing the various test cycles and sign off;
  • To be involved and contribute in the evaluation, definition and configuration of an automated software tool to facilitate the testing processes.
  • To create and distribute progress reports and sign off deliverables for promotion to the production environment.

End User Support and Training Function

  •  To plan and deliver end-user training activities.
  • To provide support related to business applications to the end-user community.
  • To support the business in the prioritisation of issues and change requests.
  • To support IT teams with business process related application issues.

General Responsibilities

  • To build relationships and liaise with various stakeholders across the business to ensure cohesion and drive a collaborative work environment.
  • To submit any reports and/or supervise any projects and activities as may be directed from time to time.
  • To participate in the definition of an IT Governance framework and compliance.
  • To assist their superior in the preparation of the Unit’s business plan and underlying budgets.
  • To perform standard office tasks including processing mail and answering phone calls.
  • To perform any duties that may be assigned to him/her from line management from time to time.
  • The candidate must also be willing to travel on occasion in order to attend training/conferences or manage supplier relations

 

Qualifications, Skills & Competencies

Mandatory

Skill

  • Excellent communication skills (including written and oral) - able to relate to various members of the organisation;
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and inspire others to identify opportunities and areas for improvement;
  • Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle;
  • Enthusiasm for research, problem solving and learning new skills;
  • Hands on knowledge of SQL.

Experience

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in Quality Assurance/ Software Testing;
  • Experience in coordination of QA activities on projects and resource planning;
  • Knowledge of defect tracking tools;
  • In depth knowledge of Quality Assurance Processes, Reporting and KPIs;
  • Proven experience of working under pressure and to tight deadlines;
  • Experience in planning and delivering end user training.

Qualification

  • A first degree in Software Engineering or a related field;
  • ISEB/ISTQB Foundation Certified.

Desirable

 Skill

  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Project;
  • Experience setting up automation frameworks such as Selenium or TestComplete.

 Experience

  • Experience in the setup of a test automation framework.

Qualification

  • Banking/ Accounting Qualification.
